Welcome to our new SALA Teachers.

Writer: Webmaster SALAWebmaster SALA

We are delighted to have two very talented teachers join our SALA faculty. Eric

Zhang and Angela Shang has recently join SALA in the last few weeks, and now oversees Year 4/5 Class and Prep/Kinder Class respectively.

Warmest welcome to our two new recruits!

Yawen (Eric) Zhang teaches Physical Education, Mandarin and Science at local primary and high schools in Melbourne. Eric has been teaching Mandarin for over 4 years, developing a deep love and passion for Chinese language education. His professional skills include content-based learning which is an approach in language teaching that focuses not just on the language itself, but on what is being taught through the language. In addition to that he practises multi-sensory teaching which engages more than one sense at a time, giving children more than one way to connect with what they are learning. He is able to cater to the needs of students at different levels of intellectual and mental development.

Anqi (Angela) Shang was born in China and is a native Mandarin speaker. She is currently studying for a Master of Education in Early Childhood at Monash University. She has a Certificate of Mandarin Proficiency and a Chinese Teacher Certificate for primary school English teaching. In 2019, Anqi worked as a teaching assistant in China before she came to Australia. She has a genuine interest in teaching Chinese culture in a Mandarin classroom. She is committed to building the beginners’ confidence to learn a new language and engaging their interests to practice Mandarin through a variety of play-based activities.
